Ann Turner has started the rescue project for ground hornbills in a private South African game reserve. The big black birds are threatened with extinction as their habitats are being destroyed more and more and they fall victim to poisoned bait which actually is intended for other animals. The Ground Hornbill Project is very successful and many hand-reared birds have already been released into the wild.
